Knowing is Half the Battle
Year after year, I paid a high cost to have energy provided to my home. Much like other people living around me, I thought I didn’t have much of a choice, outside of going off the grid by getting a solar panel installed on my roof. Only after going to http://www.energyproviderstexas.com/reliant-energy-texas/t/tyler/ did I find out that I could have been using a different energy provider all along. I got away from my old provider as fast as possible. They send me advertisements in the mail in an attempt to convince me to come back to them, but I just shred them and throw them out with the garbage.
After learning that other energy providers existed, I became curious about what other companies where right under my nose. I had a bundle for television, phone, and Internet service with one well known cable provider. I liked the Internet speed they offered, when they weren’t throttling it, and when it was actually working. The bad thing about having three services bundled under the same company is that when something goes wrong, you lose all of those services at the same time. For a day, I was unable to call anyone on my phone, browse the Internet, or watch television.
I split the three services into two, with phone and Internet bundled under a new provider, and the television bundled a different one. So far, I haven’t experienced any Internet outages, nor has my speed been throttled. I pay less for my monthly phone bill, and even have free long distance and caller ID. I get more television channels, and I have the movie channels for free for a full year. Now, if I could only find another provider to compete with the water company, but I won’t be holding my breath on that one.
